To keep or not to keep....that is the question!

I often run across this issue when working on a piece...once I am done with it, I want to keep it!!!  I have been slowly working on stuff that does not require heavy equipment (cause my handy man is deployed!)  Like the table saw...it scares me to death.  I do work with the miter saw and can handle a cordless drill like nobody's business!  Anyway....back to my cute piece.  I love when I finish working on one, my sometimes overly opinionated 12 year old will say, "Mom, can we put that in my room?"  That makes me beam with pride!   She definitely wants this one, but relented by saying, "if it doesn't sell in two months, can you bring it home to me?"  Of course, I can!
I did not have to do too much to this piece.  Shave down the drawers so they will slide in and out smoothly, and I painted it a nice melon color.  This is my new color du jour.  I want to douse everything in my garage this color! I took some of the color back down to the original brown stain.  The brown against the melon was so beautiful!!!  The knobs were so perfect for the lines of this cutie patootie, I left them alone.  If you want to visit her (yes, I personify my furniture) come down to Salado Antique Mall July 9 and 10th. "Melon-choly" will be outside waiting for you!

Gettin' back to my junque

I have been absent for a while.....18 hours of school, 2 busy kids, a husband who is always TDY (away on temporary assignment for those non-military), and a myriad of volunteer organizations had this junkin' lady busy.  I visited a local fav antique store the other day and got to talk with one of the ladies who owns a booth there.  So due to her encouragement, I am ready to get back to blogging and hopefully get to know some more wonderful people who love junque as much as I do!!!

I am located in Salado Antique Mall.  I also participate in Market Days at SAM, the second weekend of every month.  I enjoy being outside selling because it allows me to meet so many wonderful people and get such good feedback on what I do.  This business has seen its fair share of the awful economy.  January - March were pretty tough months.  I was feeling so down because I was not selling much, but then, neither was anyone else.  But this is my passion and I could not abandon it.  I would much rather be in my garage, covered in paint and sawdust, than sitting in a class learning about the French Revolution and Polynomial Equations.  I am working hard on my degree to be done by the time my husband retires (which should be in one year), so it is important I finish.  But I just sit and daydream about a new treasure I acquired, what color to paint it and how best to display it in my booth.

As for blogging, this is really new to me.  I was wondering who would really want to read what I do, or think or how I feel?  But I enjoy so much reading about others fabulous finds, how they came across a lucky treasure and how they displayed it in their home or store.  I will start posting pictures again soon of what I have done, be it past or present, and hopefully someone, somewhere will be inspired as so many have inspired me!
